* LOCATION
The scientific programme will be held in the Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA KFKI RMKI), in the lecture hall of Building III during the entire week of Sept 21-25. The participants will be seated in rooms on the 3rd floor of Building III (Department for Theoretical Physics). The address of the KFKI Campus is
* ACCOMMODATION
All the participants will be accommodated in modest single rooms at
The hotel is close to the KFKI Campus and can be reachad from downtown Budapest in about 15 -20 minutes by the public bus BLACK 21 from the hubs Moszkva ter and Deli p.u. railway station (these are also stops of the red subway line on the Buda side of Budapest).
* ARRIVAL
Hotel Sunlight can be reached directly by car and by bus. If you arrive by air to one of the Ferihegy airports, we recommend to take the AIRPORT MINIBUS to Hotel Sunlight at the above address. The minibus can be booked in the Baggage Claim area of the Ferihegy I and II airports, the ticket costs 1200 HUF ( appr. 6 USD).
Please notify the organizers of your planned arrival and departure schedule and let us know if you have further requests.
Hotel Sunlight confirmed the reservations for those participants who sent us their arrival/departure schedule. Deviations from the conference schedule (before or after meeting days, if any) are included to the reservations.
* DEPARTURE
The conference will adjourn on Friday, Sept 25, 1998, 12:00. Transportation can be organized similarly to the arrival schedule. We recommend to order an airport minibus from your hotel to take you to the appropriate (FERIHEGY I or II) airports for the price as listed above.
* PROCEEDINGS
There will be no formally edited proceedings. We consider the meeting successfull if we stimulate joint publications of the participants. Should any published paper emerge from this mini-workshop, the organizers kindly ask for a reference to the meeting and a copy or a link to the electronic version of the publication.
* ACCOMMODATION AND FEE
There will be no conference fee, the accommodation is arranged individually by the participants according to their plans.
Please note that the present exchange rate is about 1 USD = 230 HUF .
* NOTE ON CURRENCY EXCHANGE
We recommend that you change your currency to Hungarian Forints (HUF) upon arrival. This can be conveniently done e.g. in the arrival halls of Ferihegy I and Ferihegy II international airports. There is a large number of ATM -s scattered all over Budapest, including both Ferihegy I and Ferihegy II airports. The cafeteria at KFKI Campus accepts only cash, HUF. Although there is an ATM at the entrance of the Campus, it unfortunately does not accept international credit cards, hence we recommend to get cash beforehand.
* SIGHT-SEEING IN BUDAPEST
Presently, we have a sort of crime problem in Budapest. We recommend that the participants do not street-park their car at night (use hotel parking instead), stay away from strangers offering ``good deals", try to avoid crowded places and guard their wallets/purses carefully. Clarify the prices of meals and drinks in restaruants before you place an order. If you take a taxi, clarify the price before you sit into the taxi cab. From the airport, use the Airport Minibus shuttle instead of a taxi. Budapest has a cheap and efficient (but sometimes crowded) public transportation system of buses, trolleybuses, trams and subways. One line ticket presently costs 75 HUF, which must be validated on the buses or at the gates of the subway stations. A daily and a weekly ticket, a Budapest card and local maps are available at major subway stations. Photos may be requested to prepare a weekly ticket. An interactive, searchable map of Budapest is also available.
We hope that the above guidelines will help you in enjoying the unique beauty of Budapest .
Looking forward to a stimulating and fruitful meeting,
Best regards,
